Aptly named Hydra has the advantage that once the large, delicious and succulent central head has been harvested, it will be succeeded by an extended crop of sideshoots during July to November.

Sow April to May outdoors.

Calabrese varieties produce a large central head that should be cut and eaten first, then further smaller side shoots will follow. 12-16 weeks to maturity. For harvest in autumn.
