Description

Spring and summer is often marked in mountain clearings by the tall, vivid pink-purple flowing wands of fireweed. Growing up to 3m (3-10 feet) on moist to fairly dry sites, this perennial flower has long been a favourite of beekeepers. Natives use the stems to make cord and fishing nets and the seeds for fluff in weaving, blankets, clothing and bedding. Fireweed is sure to attract butterflies and bees to your garden.
