Description

This striking border plant throws up numerous upright stems topped with green fringed, ruby red papery flowers of a unique colour which can be used in the garden to create some striking contrasts. This is a good mid border cottage garden plant which can also be used as a dried flower in arrangements. The attractive ruby red shade can also be used to good effect with purple foliage.

A European plant, Astrantia adds a distinctive and somewhat classy angle to any planting scheme. Part of the name translates as meaning ‘star’, referring to the shape of the flower heads.
