Ferry-Morse Seed Company, All-American Business Since 1856

For seven generations Ferry-Morse Seed Company has been selling fine seeds - in fact, Ferry-Morse Seeds have been sold continuously since shortly before the Civil War. Our experience of more than one hundred and forty years of American gardening are now at your fingertips.

Dexter Mason Ferry began a partnership with Milo Gardner and Eber Church in 1856. Until Mr. Ferry began packaging garden seeds in small envelopes, there had been no such business except what was being done by the Shaker sect among their own settlements. D. M. Ferry & Co. was incorporated in 1879. They formed an association with C. C. Morse Co., growers on the West Coast which was incorporated in 1884 and merged in 1930. This was acquired by Groupe Limagrain in 1981. This cooperative is the largest seed organization in the world, and the first in quantity of seed packets produced and distributed.
