Description
The plant has white, multi-stemmed top flowers and narrow leaved fragrant foliage.
Soil pH 5.5-6.5. Does not transplant well. Plant outdoors in mid spring in a sunny location or start indoors in peat pots 8-10 weeks before last frost date. Best grown in a well drained fertile soil in full sun.
Dogs love the scent of Anise. Appropriate plant for herb gardens or for a corner of the vegetable garden. Anise seed has a licorice-like flavor and is used in cakes, candies, bread and pastries. The plant is often used fresh in salads or as a delicate garnish.
