Description

This pale green skinned marrow - zucchini (Italian) or courgette (French) - has white speckles, making it a very attractive vegetable. It has medium-sized fruits, slightly rounded like a slender eggplant. As with most marrow varieties, the flowers are edible, usually coated in a light tempura style batter, and the young leaves can be eaten steamed.

Sow directly into the ground after the last frost. Soil should be rich and well drained (some people like to grow marrows on top of their mature compost heap!). Sow seeds 2.5cm (1in) deep, sowing 6-8 seeds per hill or mound. Harvest this variety of marrow after the first frosts in fall.
