Description
A deciduous native shrub with reddish branches and long narrow grey-green aromatic leaves. Flowers yellow-green catkins from late spring. Once used medicinally. A powerful insecticide. Leaves once used to flavour Gale beer and dried leaves used to flavour soups and stews. Roots and stem produce yellow dye. Germination difficult. Habitat: damp acidic soils in shade. Ht over 1 mtr
