Solanum melongena 'Stripy Egg Plant Calliope'

Description
A native of South America and originally nick-named 'Egg Plant' by the Spanish because of course the fruit resemble large eggs. Grown in Britain since Victorian times, it was produced in association with tomato crops in greenhouses. Plants are quite easy to grow in conservatories or green houses and may succeed on a sunny patio. Famous for use in Mousakka and other savoury dishes. Callipe is a lovely red-purple colour with pretty white stripes.
