Lashings of that rich, traditional Gentian blue colour are supplied on lush stems of lanced foliage radiating from the dense, central crown. A much loved colour on a much loved plant. A gem for the rockery, it can also be used as a pot plant in the cool greenhouse or alpine house. Also attractive planted into the border, at the front, amongst fellow low growing varieties.
Gentiana species occur across the globe in alpine, rocky areas. From a range of 350 species, Gentiana moorcroftiana is a particularly choice specimen from Pakistan, and like all Gentians, is said to have medicinal uses.
Height 6-12 inches (15-30 cm). Hardy in the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia and North America USDA Zones 6-8.
