Salvia coccinea 'Cherry Blossom'
Quick to flower from seed and with impressive early and long lasting flowering performance. The neatly dwarf habit of Cherry Blossom is often overpowered by the numerous, floriferous spikes. A great addition to colourful summer bedding schemes, where this plant will give a valuable and delicate foil. Container growing is also extensively popular in this modern age, and this is a great plant for that purpose.
A Texan species which also occurs in tropical America and is accompanied by some 700 diverse species, Salvia coccinea ‘Cherry Blossom’ is a variant of the original species and has taken some very careful breeding work to produce the good garden plant that it is today. Salvia derives from ‘salvea’ to save or heal, alluding to the healing properties that Salvias are purported to have.
Height 15 inches (38 cm). Hardy in the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia and suitable for all North America USDA Zones.
