Description
An excellent border plant, throwing up bold spikes of densely packed, metallic silver-blue florets. The glossy, deeply-cut foliage further enhances the glorious and statuesque appearance. Outstanding for the back of the border where the Acanthus will create a stunning effect interplanted with Delphiniums and Lupins, which enhance the design attributes of this wonderful plant.
Native of the warm, Mediterranean regions, and from the family Acanthaceae. The generic name derives from the Greek ‘akantha’ meaning ‘spine’. This refers to the toothed foliage of some species.
Height 36 inches (90 cm). Hardy in the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia and North America USDA Zones 5-9.
